Fuera de la Cabeza, “ud af hovedet”, is a collaboration with fine artist Diego Roig Monllor, who has created a performance machine that is completed with my performance.

 

This is not our first collaboration. Together, we take performance works and enhance them with sculpture, drawing and video, making them more layered. 

 

This piece stems from a performance called "Fuera de la cabeza- ud af hovedet". In this, I take a text from a book by philosopher Alva Noe, about language and culture and migration, and I read them out loud to her audiences. The tension is created because the pages are in Spanish (one of my two mother tongues), yet I translate into Danish (my 4th language), without previous preparation. I try to be as loyal to the written text as I can, stumbling, doubting, not finding the right words. The audience gets very engaged in the words, trying to understand the meaning, and willingly helping. With this work, I am shedding light into the psychological ramifications of not being able to fully partake in the social practice of language. 

 

Diego has created an artifact that involves the audiences into participating. A gigantic “kuglebane”. The audience is invited to use this artifact whenever they feel shame or embarrasment because of the performance struggles.
